26 Jun 11: Turpan-Hami-Liuyuan-Dunhuang, China

We decided on the way to prolong our journey to Dunhuang. Unfortunately the Beijing train only approaches Dunhuang as far as Liu Yuan. We said yes and bought additional tickets and were move to the restaurant wagon for 2 permanent seats. The train is fully loaded with people coming up and down at each stop. Food is sold on trolleys, with all sorts of dried meats, fruit and vegetable. Kim is tempted by instant noodles and meat. I remained reasonable with a few apples and green tea.
Liu Yuan was just a place for us to drop off and negotiate with a taxi to reach Dunhuang which we did after 2 hours driving through a dull and dark grey landscape.
