30 Jun 11: Jiayuguan- Zhangye, China

We are now mastering the art of buying and explaining our wishes at the train tickets booking station. This only duty cleared, we had had our usual walk through the food market. We love food markets. Compared to Central Asia, one can buy so much vegetable and fruit. All is fresh and live even the fish or any shrimp or eels or tortoise ready for the soup. Fruit come in all formats, dried and fresh. Noodles by the thousand in all formats too, flat, rounded, squared, ribbons in white rice flour or yellow egg wheat flour.Tofu looks really like cheese with large square tome from which slices are cut and sold.

Lunch at the market was one of the best and cheapest. We had half a roast duck + dumplings and wantan for 3 $ for both of us.
